    The first reptiles, scale trees and ferns were discovered.

    During this period, the first vascular land plants were discovered along with pimitive fish. Brachiopods were discovered in this era.

    Cambrian Era

    During this time period, the first fishes were discovered as well as the first chordates. Trilobites were common fossils around this time.

    The first skeletal elements were discovered. The First soft-bodied metzoans were discovered as well as the first signs of animal traces.
