On his return, he is robbed by the neighborhood gangster. Sometime later, an unrelated mob shoot-out ensues. The husband happens upon the melee, recognizing the crook who robbed him.

    This is one of the earliest gangster films ever made, it focuses more on the gangsters and there lifes than other people encountering them and what happens if they cross them unlike the other film before it. The film is about an ambitious criminal Rico moves from the country to the big city in the east and joins Sam Vettori's gang with his friend Joe Massara. Sooner he becomes the leader of the gangsters and known as Little Caesar, and gets closer to the great mobster Pete Montana. In a robbery

    This is the original scarface, Warner were very heavily involved in gangser films in the early 1900's as they did this film and the little caesar as well as other gangster films. This film help define the gangster genre as it shows a persons rise through crime and how it can then be his downful which leads to death, like most modern gangster films today.

    This is another warner gangster film that was made in the late 1940's, it is different from the other ones as it was about a priest who tries to stop a gangster from corrupting a group of street kids.

    This was a gangster film that helped revive its genre, as the war began this film was produced to help people get through, it is about how the gangster helps plan a robbery but it also has romance in it, this was one of the first gangster films to do this as ever other one was just about the killings or other crimes.

    Between the 1950's and the 1960's the crime/gangster genre had died out as everyone was bored of it and had moved on to other films like teen movies or action movies that were more interesting to watch and related to the time more.

    Hollywood has tried to re-create the success of the early gangster films, but tryign to capture the historic and legendary appeal of these films is basically impossible, the history of the crime and gangster film genre is firmly rooted in the 1930's and 1940's, right next to the legendary actors who played the gangsters. This is the only problem with gangster films today there just not as realistic as the old ones as the old ones were about what was actually happening at the time.

    Goodfellas is a relitavely recent italian-American gangster movie. It's based on a real life story focusing on Henry Hill, a young man who by his own admission 'always wanted to be a gangster'. This was a gangster film similar to the rest as in the end there is always tragedy.

    The film is a modern day crime/gangster genre, it is about a local mob boss extorting all the real estate agents for their transactions, while helping a russian developer out, as a sign of good faith the russian guy gives him a vaulable painting that is later stolen and needs tracking down. As all this is happening a local bunch of theifs steal money from the russian, the whole story is unraveled by a junkie called Johnny Quid,
