    Freshman Year (Spring).
The first semester as a teacher, Ms. Gruwell, as well as her students had to endure alot. From race riots, to bad home life and everything in between. This entry is important because a quote that stands out is, "They're just kids. But adults created the system. They system seperates them and then they're steriotyped as basic." This is important becasue throughout the whole book, you can tell this is a concept they students are aware of. They know that people don't really care about them.

During some of the journal entries of this semester, Ms. Gruwell gave the students stories from each other to read and edit. Things like abortion, molestation, gang violence, etc. I put this on the timeline because the journal entry reactions were very moving. The journals really brought the class together because they knew they weren't the only ones anymore.

    Senior Year (Fall)
During the students senior year, the class raised enough money to get the woman who helped to hide Anne Franke to come to their high school and talk to them. This definitely meant alot to the students who have grown up in a world of hate and bitterness, especially when Miep Gies said they were the "Real Heroes".
