    This explorer decided to go on an expedition in 1509. To his surprise he ended up founding a city. This is known today as San Sebastian.

    Not satisfied with stopping there, Francisco joined the expedition of Nunez de Balboa. When he had served in this expedition, they had found the Pacific Ocean. This happened in 1513.

    While he traveled on board of the Nunez expedition, Pizarro took some time to trade with the natives. The new lands were their home, and that was where he had decided he wanted to go on his own expedition. This happened in 1515.

    In 1520, Francisco Pizarro jumped on board of the next expedition that came his way. This was known as the discovery of the Republic of Costa Rica. Later on this land became known as how we know it today Costa Rica.

    Francisco Pizarro after all of these expedition had gathered enough funding in order to sail on his own. He had sailed south of Panama and had found a small amount of gold awaiting his arrival. This had happened only two years after the discovery of Costa Rica.

    He had found the small amount of gold in 1522. This made him able to search the area for other treasures. Though this had happened in 1528, the funding was covered by the others funding, allowing him to go on this expedition.

    Once again, Francisco hopped aboard another expedition. Though this time it was with Diego de Almagro. This was the founding of Peru in 1528. Though he had found Peru, he still needed to claim it. Pizarro returned to Spain, requesting the ability to claim the land for them. His request was accepted, so he got ready to set sail once more. He set off to finish the expedition he had started with Diego de Almagro.

    Though this time he had brought his three half brothers for the travel. Unfortunately, it had taken two years to complete, but they had still claimed the land for Spain, so the mission was completed.

    In 1537, Pizarro’s partner, Diego de Almagro, got into a serious fight with Pizarro. It was over who should be in control over all of their expeditions. This fight had taken a turn for the worst, as they broke apart.

    1541, the battle turned fatal. Diego de Almagro sent his men in pursuit of Francisco Pizarro. Though Pizarro wasn’t the best man, the places he founded before he was killed are a big part of our history today.
