    United States President Abraham Lincoln was shot on Friday, April 14, 1865, while attending a play. The assassination occurred five days after the commander of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, General Robert E. Lee, surrendered to Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant and the Union Army of the Potomac.Lincoln was the first American president to be assassinated.The assassination of Lincoln was by John Wilkes Booth as part of a larger conspiracy in a bid to revive the Confederate cause.
  • Manhattan Project

    Manhattan Project
    The Manhattan Project was a research and development project that produced the first atomic bombs during World War II. It was led by the United States with the support of the United Kingdom and Canada. From 1942 to 1946, the project was under the direction of Major General Leslie Groves of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer was the scientific director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory that designed the actual bombs.

    John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 1963, in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas. Kennedy was fatally shot by a sniper. The United States House Select Committee on Assassinations concluded in 1978 that Kennedy was probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy. The HSCA did not identify any other person or group involved in the assassination besides Lee Harvery Oswald.

    Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first humans on the Moon, Americans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, on July 20, 1969. Armstrong became the first to step onto the lunar surface six hours later on July 21 Armstrong spent about two and a half hours outside the spacecraft, Aldrin slightly less, and together they collected 47.5 pounds of lunar material for return to Earth. Apollo 11 was the first and is still most famous of the moon landings.

    The Oklahoma City bombing was a domestic terrorist bomb attack on the Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. Caused by Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, the bombing killed 168 people and injured more than 680 others. The blast caused at least an estimated $652 million worth of damage. Motivated by his hatred of the federal government and angered by its handling of the 1993 Waco siege and the Ruby Ridge incident in 1992.

    The Columbine High School massacre was a school shooting that occurred on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School in the state of Colorado.Two senior students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, murdered a total of 12 students and one teacher, but injuing much more. The pair then commintted suicide, their motives are still unclear. The shooting sparked the debate of gun control laws.

    Osama bin Laden, the founder and head of the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda, was killed in Pakistan on May 2, 2011, shortly after 1:00 am by U.S. Navy SEALs of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group (also known as DEVGRU or SEAL Team Six). The operation, code-named Operation Neptune Spear, was carried out in a Central Intelligence Agency-led operation. He was behind the 9/11 attacks on American soil, they wanted him dead.

    On September 11th 2001 in New York City at 8:46AM an Islamic terrorist group invaded US soil. Four passengers hijacked the planes and ran them into the twin towers killing almost 3,000 people. It is still an unknown reason of why exactly they did it but many believe it was because of Osama Bin Ladens declaration of the holy war and wanting to kill US citizens.

    The Boston Marathon bombings and subsequent related shootings were a series of attacks and incidents which began on April 15, 2013, when two pressure cooker bombs exploded during the Boston Marathon at 2:49 pm, killing 3 people and injuring 264 others. The bombs exploded about 12 seconds and 210 yards apart, near the finish line. The brothers who set up the bombs were islamic extremists, but were not part of a terrorist group.
