The Korean War
In 1953 the Korean war started it was between south and north korea. The reason for the war was mainly because of the political division of korea. The failure to hold free elections throughout the korean peninsula divided the two sides. When that happen the north invaded the south. Then the united states provided 88% of the nation's men which aided south korean forces in repelling the invasion. -
The Space Race
In the 1950's the united states and soviet union started a race to get something into space. The race lasted for 10 years straight. At the end the US lost the race. Then in 1989 the US created space craft it was called the challenger when they launched it it exploded. The launch was taken place in Florida but pieces from the blast were found from Florida to Texas. -
Brown V. Board of Education
The Brown V. Board of Education case was one of the most important Supreme Court cases in american history. When the Supreme Court agreed to hear the NAACP's case they all dealr with the question of whether the principle '" Seperate but equal" was constitutional with regard to public schools. -

Emmett Till's Murder
In 1955 a boy named Emmett Till was cruely murdered by two white man just for talking to a white girl. Emmett was an African American from Chicago visiting family in Missipi. He waas killed by the girls husband and her brother. The two man went to trial for murder of the boy. Their names where Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam. -
The "The Little Rock Nine"
In 1957 a group of African American enrolled to a high school called Little Rock. Little rock was an all white school. This caused a mob people tried to stop them from entering the scool. The reason for this was to make a change segregaion against all blacks. -
War Protests
In the 1960's people started to protest against the war. They wpould hold up signs saying end the war or like make peace not war. These people would make riots and march every where. They would get arrested all the time. -
George Wallace, Governor of Alabama
In 1963 George Wallace won the election to be the governor of alabama. George also went ran for four times and did not win any of those eections. After those four times it earned him the nick name "The most influential loser". -
Assassination of John F. Kennedy
In the year 1963 november 22 president John F. Kennedy was assassinated. It was on the day of the parade that was held in Dallas.While are president was driving through the parade out no where e was killed shot from both sides of the head. -

Macolm X
In 1925 Mlacolm Little was born later on he willbe known as Malcolm X. In 1946 Malcolm Little was sent to prison for burglary.
While inprison he learn of th nation islam which preached of black nationalism. Malcolm Little went under the teaching elijah muhammad. Right after joining the nation Islam he changed his name to Malcolm X. In 1964 he broken from the Black Muslims. After seeing Muslims from many races worshipping together than he no longer promoted separatism.
malcolm died in 1965. -
Martin Luther King Jr.
In 1929 january 15 Martin Luther King Jr was born.He was one of the segregation leaders that lead us to civil rights. In 1963 King stood in front of a crowd to give his most famous speech the I have a Dream Speech.five years later King was assassinated while giving a speech at hotel. A tragic lost for every one. -
Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy
On the day of June 6 1968 Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated.It was during the campaign season.He was shot while walking through the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel and died in the Good Samaritan Hospital 26 Hours later. -
Hippie Culture (Music, Clothing, Beliefs)
In 1970 a brand new culture was formed called the Hippie Culture. It was a group of people that only believed in peace not violenece. They all hated the war they would run meeting so that they can expresshow they felt about everything. -

Disco music was music that was popular from the mid to the late 1970's. Its inital audiences were African american, gay, latino, italian american, and psychedelic commounities in new york. -
Jimmy Carter/ Iran Hostage Crisis
In 1979 a mob of angry Islamics had taken hosages. The leader of the whole operation was a guy named Jimmy Carter. These people held the hostages for 444 days. The hostages were released once president Ronald Reagan went into office. They believed that once Reagan wen into office that will be better for them but they were wrong it became worse than ever for them. -
John Lennon's Murder
In 1980 December 8 john lennon was killed it all took place in new york city. lennon was a former player from the famous group called the beetles. Lennon was killed by Mark David Chapman. Lennon was pronounced dead on arrival. Once local news station reported his death a crowd surroned the hospital. Lennon was not buried he was cremated. The ashes were given to Ono his wife who chose not to hold a funeral for him. -
Assassination Attempt of Ronald Reagan
In the year 1981a man attempted kill president Ronald Reagan after one of his speeches. The man responsible for this was a man named John Hinckley Jr. Even though he was'nt killed he was wounded along with three other people. Reagan suffered a punctured lung and heavy internal bleeding But happy to say with prompt medical attention Reagan recovered quickly. -
HIV/AIDS
In the early 80's a new type of sickness was discovered they called it AIDS which was caused by virus that was called HIV. The virus was originally detected in the 50's but it never was a threat to society at first. AIDS cut's the life span in half. -
Ronald Reagan/ Reagonmics
When Reagan took office as the nations 40'th president on January 20 1981 the country was experiencing some of bleakest economic time sense the great depression. Taxes were high, Unemployment rate was high, Interest rates were high and National spirit was low. Reagan new what needed to be done he had a plan called reagonmics which cut taxes, Get control of government spending and get government out of the way. -

In the late 40's a new war was started called the cold war which lasted until 1991. The Cold War was between the usa and the soviet union.
