The war had over 3 million tragedies, about 58,000 being American soldiers. It all started because of the rise of power of Ho Chi Minh. At the peak of the war, 500,000 American soldiers were involved. The war ended because Communists forced seized control of Saigon.

Murder of Emmett Till
A 14 year old boy was murdered by two white men, while he was visiting some relatives. He was in Money, Mississippi when the murder happened. He had flirted with a white women a couple weeks earlier, so the two men beat him to death, gouged his eyes out, and then shot him in the head and threw him in the river. -
Elvis Presley's Dance
Elvis made a famous appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. He performs "Hound Dog", but they couldn't show his bottom half because of the hip thrust inspired by Forrest. -
Martin Luther King Jr.
The Southern Cristian Leadership Conference was established to control protesting. Martin Luther states that this is founded to amen protests in the south coordinated and less violent. -

A race between the Soviet Union and the US to create aerospace technology, artificial satellites, and unmanned space probes. Lastly, they sent Human space flight to the moon. -
The Little Rock Nine
Nine African American students enrolled in Little Rock Central High School. Governor Orval Faubus called in troops to block the kids entrance but later in the month President Eisenhower had sent Federal troops to escort the nine kids into the school. -
Governor George Wallace
Governor Wallace was an American Politician. He refused to let two black students attend the University of Alabama. JFK forced the Governor to leave and allowed the students to attend the school. -
Assassination of John F. Kennedy
Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated John F. Kennedy on this date. The assassination happened in Dallas. America is grieving about the loss of their president. -

The march of peace occurs. This protest is a massive amount of people who are against the fighting. They want all troops home. -

American Troops in Vietnam killed most of the civilians in My Lai, South Vietnam. As many as 500 tragedies occurred. -

Apollo 11 was the first space aircraft on the moon. Also Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon. The space craft traveled 240,000 miles in 76 hours. -
Hurricane Carmen
Carmen struck the Yucatan peninsula as a category 4 hurricane. The hurricane moved westward as it was absorbed by a cyclone as it hit Southern Plain.
