Vietnam War
The Vietnam War started 1955 and ended 1975. The Communist North Vietnam fought against South Vietnam and their ally the United States. The battle was very bloody and sparked a lot of protest in the United States. Many people opposed the war since it was televised. Elvis Presley brought a new genre of music which was rock and a lot of Americans liked it. He was huge in American Pop Culture and he made history. The Hippie Movement
The Hippie Movement was a counter-culture of the 1960s where the youth of America started to talk about peace and they did drugs, and gave free love. The biggest movement is when they created a human barricade in front of the pentagon. This era ended in the 1970s. They opposed the Vietnam War. Alabama Desegregation
In June 10, 1963, President John F. Kennedy federalized National Guard troops and deployed them to the University of Alabama to force its desegregation. The next day, Governor Wallace yielded to the federal pressure, and two African American students-Vivian Malone and James A.Hood-successfully enrolled.
In Forrest Gump, Forrest was there watching Wallace trying to stop the students from entering.

JFK Assassination
President Kennedy went to the Dallas Texas because he was going around to states because he wanted to gain support from the people. So at Dallas when he was in the presidential motorcade Lee Harvey Oswald shot Kennedy in the neck, and in the head. He died which was a huge impact in America. Robert Kennedy's Assassination
On June 5, 1968, 42-year-old presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy was mortally wounded shortly after midnight PDT at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. He fought for Latino rights. Moon Landing
Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first two humans on the Moon. Mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin, both American, landed the lunar module Eagle on July 20, 1969. Watergate Scandal
President Nixon ordered former FBI agents, and CIA agents to break in the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the Watergate offices. They were caught and this led the President Nixon resigning. They stole important documents, and listened in on phone lines. Hurricane Carmen
Hurricane Carmen was the most intense tropical cyclone of the 1974 Atlantic hurricane season. A destructive and widespread storm, Carmen originated as a tropical disturbance that emerged from Africa toward the end of August. It hit southern US really bad. Apple
Apple was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne in April 1976 to develop and sell Wozniak's Apple I personal computer. It was incorporated as Apple Computer, Inc. in January 1977, and sales of its computers, including the Apple II, saw significant momentum and revenue growth for the company. Ronald Reagan Attempted Assassination
In March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan and three others were shot and wounded by John Hinckley Jr. in Washington, D.C., as they were leaving a speaking engagement at the Washington Hilton Hotel. In Forrest Gump, Forrest talks about the assassination attempt. -
Aids Outbreak
The AIDS epidemic, caused by HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), found its way to the United States as early as 1960, but was first noticed after doctors discovered clusters of Kaposi's sarcoma and pneumocystis pneumonia in young gay men in Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco in 1981.
