    The American Revolution lasted from 1765 until 1783. The 13 American Colonies broke apart from Britain, and the United States of America was formed.

    The Barbary Wars (1801-05, 1815) were two wars fought between the United States and North Africa. Berber Pirates would attack ships if they did not pay tribute. Due to these wars, 3 U.S.S. ships were built.

    The war of 1812 was a 32 month conflict between the United States and Great Britain. The United States declared war on June 18, 1812 and ended on Febuary 18, 1815. The war ended with no boundary changes and a military stalemate.

    The Manifest destiny was the idea that American settlers were destined to spread west and colonize more of the United States. The American settlers spread throughout the west, and as a result slavery expanded.

    The Monroe Doctrine was an article that stated that any attempts by European nations to take land from North or South America would be seen as acts of agression. Over time the doctrine was seen with resentment from Latin American countries.

    The U.S.-Mexican war lasted from 1846-1848 and was caused by the annexation of Texas. The U.S. gained the Atla California and New Mexico territories, and paid Mexico $15 million. The Rio Grande was established as the national border between Mexico and the U.S.

    Hawii's queen Lili'uokalani was overthrown by the United States, and Hawii was taken as a new U.S. territory. Later, Hawii was gained as the 50th and final state of the U.S.
