    Pinkney's Treaty
    Pinkney's Treaty was another way that Washington was trying to settle disputes between America and foreign nations. This treaty resolved territory disputes and granted American ships free navigation of the Mississippi along with gaining access to the New Orleans port.

    The Louisiana Purchase was a land deal that Thomas Jefferson and Napoleon agreed to between America and France that allowed the US to expand west by doubling the size of the country. It also gave the US control of the Mississippi River, while France got money to pay for war.

    The Embargo Act was a law put in place by Thomas Jefferson temporarily banning all trade with foreign countries after France and Britain began attacking US ships in hopes that it would get the attention of foreign nations by hurting their economies. This hurt the US economy as well, so the act was later repealed and the Non-Intercourse Act replaced it which stopped trade only between Britain and France.

    On September 11, 2001, the US was under attack by terrorists from the terrorist organization al-Qaeda. Four planes were hijacked and were headed to major US headquarters. The World Trade Centers in New York were both hit, along with the Pentagon. The last plane was headed toward Washington. D.C. but crashed in Pennsylvania. It sparked major foreign and domestic changes in safety precautions.

    Foreign Aid was George W. Bush's way to help foreign countries who were trying to establish good, strong nations by providing them with a set amount of money over the course of several years. Once these countries were established and strong nations, they returned America's favor, each in their own ways.

    The Bush Doctrine refers to George W. Bush's foreign policy shortly after 9/11. Its main purpose was to prevent another terrorist attack like 9/11. George Bush began creating the Doctrine in June of 2001, but wasn't fully published until September 20, 2002.

    The Iraq War was a war that began when the United States invaded Iraq. It fueled the end of the reign of Saddam Hussein. It began in 2003 when George W. Bush was president and ended in 2011.
