    Chinese Influence

    The Chinese were the first to create floral arrangements using water and containers.

    Romans

    Used flowers the same way as the greeks. Began using flowers for fragrant purposes

    Brought together Roman and Greek influences. Started using fruits in their designs

    Ikebana Introduced to the japanese

    Ikebana introduced to Japan by CHines Buddhist Missionaries in the 6th century

    Greeks

    Used Flowers for adornment. Made wreaths and garlands. Created the Horn of plenty (cornucopia)

    Used large symmetrical arrangements and used flowers for things other than religion.

    Created an oval shape with mismatched flowers
    Using lavish designs with different shapes, textures, and colors

    Created symmetrical designs, then shifted to asymmetrical designs.beginning of the Hogarth curve, or S-curve.

    Placed grasses, flowers and foliage into fan-shaped arrangements. Began to mix different floral bouquets together.
