Soldiers could not sleep at night because of the rats. Most of the soldiers got trench foot, which is a injury on their foot. The Holocaust began in 1933 when Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany and ended in 1945 when the Nazis were defeated. Nazis began ordering all Jews to live within certain, very specific, areas of big cities called ghettos.

    In the Treaty of Versailles, Germany had to accept blame for starting the war and it also had to pay $10 billion for the damage done during the war. Germany´s colonies were give to Britain and France and it could have a navy of only 6 battleships, and an army of just 100,000 men.

    America in the 1920´s - Roaring 20´s
    In the 1920's, alcohol was prohibited because they thought that that will make a better community, but instead gangsters arrived in New York and Chicago. They started listening to Jazz Music and doing new dances. At first movies were in black and white and silent. In 1922, the first movie in color was released, in 1926 the first movie with music and sounds and in 1927 the first movie with little talking sequence.

    During this time, Germany could not afford payments and there were no productions. Germany workers were also on strike and France sent in troops. Prices skyrocketed and the population was below the poverty line.

    KKK is refered to the Ku Klux Klan. The Ku Klux Klan is a racist, anti-Semitic movement with a commitment to extreme violence to achieve its goals of racial segregation and white supremacy. Each different Klan group has its own headquarters. The Ku Klux Klan first emerged following the Civil War as America’s first true terrorist group.

    Many thigs happpend during this event. More or less about 12 million people were unemployed, hundreds of people were being fired everyday, 20,000 companies went bankrupt, 1616 banks went bankrupt, 23,000 people committed suicide in one year, and many more did later. During tis time, Herbert Hoover was the president. Many people thought that the president had the fault for this event. There were also a lot of strikes.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japanese planes attacked Pearl Harbor, an american naval base, completely by surprise. The Americans couldn't fight back. More than 2000 men died, 5 ships were sunk, and 188 planes were destroyed. It was a huge loss.
  • Hiroshima bombing

    This happened the 6th of August of 1945. US drops the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima by orders of President Harry S. Truman. This first bomb was named "Little Boy" as a reference to former President Roosevelt. It killed thousands of people on impact. Many peolpe died later because of radiation.

    The American government ordered the dropping of a second atomic bomb. This one was called Fat Man. The original target for the bomb was the city of Kokura, but clouds were blocking and they needed to change course to the alternative target, Nagasaki. This bomb was less destructive than the first but it still caused a great damage.
