On September 11, 2001, a group of terrorists names " al-Qaeda" hijacked four airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against the US. Two of the four planes hit the twin towers in New York City, and one other plane hit the Pentagon right outside of Washington D.C. The fourth plane hit a field in Pennsylvania. Roughly 3,000 people were killed in these attacks.
