  • The Car

    The cars we perfected in Germany and France towards the end of the 19th Century. Nicolaus Otto, Gottbiel Daimler, Carl Benz, and Emile Levassor took part in the development towards the perfect car. The 1910 mercedes was the first modernized vehicle. They maufactured their resources to the military during WWII
  • The Great Migration

    the relocation of more than 6 million African Americans. It was caused by unsatisfactory economic oppertunity and segregation laws. They left home so they could start a new life for themselves.
  • 18th amendment

    They had passed the Prohibiton law in 1919. The public had believed it had a huge negative impact on labor productivity. As well as anti-social behaviors.
  • 19th amendment

    In August of 1920 they had passed the 19th amendment. The 19th amendment gave women the right to vote. Womens right launched on a national level.
  • Emergency Quota Act

    Temporarily limiting the number of immigrants allowed into the U.S. Only 3% of each nationality was now allowed into the U.S. Although it did not apply to countries with bilateral agreements.
  • Immigration Act

    The government limited the number of immigrants that were allowed in the U.S. They onlky gave visas to 2% of the number of people of each nationality. Not including immigrants from Asia.
  • Television

    The first television was invented back in 1972. A man named Philo Taylor Fransworth conceived a system that captured moving pictures. The television captured these images by rotating satelites.
  • Black Tuesday

    October 1929 the stock markets crashed. Billions of dollars were lost, wiping out thousands of investors. Black tuesday along with America spiraled into the Great Depression.
  • Black Thursday

    This was one of the worst stock market crashes. The stock markets had fallen nearly 20%. It Signaled the start of the stock market crash of 1929.
  • Franklin D. Rosevelt elected President

    1932 Rosevelt is elected President, He blamed Hoover for the Great Depression and the worsening economy, Rosevelt won both electoral and popular votes.
  • Economy act

    It was the Economy act of 1933. This Act gave took benefits from the veterens. They cut salaries of federal workers and reduced benefits from veterans.
  • 21st amendment

    In 1933 the constitution passed the 21st amendment. 21st amendment banned the 18th amendment. Ending Prohibition meant alcoholism was now legal again.
  • Hoover Dam Constructed

    It was the largest dam of the world in 1935. The dam was created to tame the Colorado river and provide water for the developing south west. It was a challenge for the workers becasue they had to crawl through Carbon Monoxide tunnels as well as being 800 feet up in the air.
  • The Frisbee

    Fred Morrison invented the frisbee. He created an aerodynamically improved disc. Later he sold it to Wham-O on June 23rd 1957.
  • The Computer

    The Hewlett-Packard is founded. Their first product was the HP 200A Audio Oseilator. They invented it in their garage.
  • GI Bill of Rights

    This bill was created to help the veterans of WWII. Nearly 9 million veterans received close to 4 billion dollars for unemployment. Benefits of 1966 extended these benefits to ALL veterans of armed forces including those who served during peacetime.
  • Telephone

    Elisha Grey and Alexander Graham Bell both invented their own version of devices that could transmit speech, They both battled over who invented it first. Because Bell had patend it first, he was the legal inventer.
  • the internet

    More than 50 years ago this internet was used as a Government weapon during the cold war. Researchers used it to communicate and share data with one another. By the end of 1969 only 4 computers were connected to the ARPnet program.
  • the Radio

    Gugliemo Marconi in 1986 got credit for patening his invention, the radio. Early use of this was to communicate with ships out at sea. The radio was used during WWII.
