  • One day, Nick's father take him to his first ever football match. And it is between Arsenal and Stoke. The young boy falls in love with the London team.

  • Arsenal becomes his life. All decisions he is about to make, depends on the club and their games.

  • There are not many Arsenal supporters on his school in Maidenhead, and he starts getting bullied.

  • When Nick is 15 he sees a old man die by heart attack.

  • As he gets older, he starts seeing girls, but there is no room for girls in his life. Arsenal is his only love.

  • After school he goes to college. He is educating to become a teacher at the college at Cambridge.

  • He can't aford to watch Arsenal every week, so he starts to watch fourth division team Cambridge United.

  • Hornby must have a training year as a school teacher, and he does it in London.

  • But when he completes his education, he starts as a teacher in Cambridge, the city he studied in.

  • As he becomes a experienced teacher, he also has more time for women, although he doesn't get in a relationship, except from the one with Arsenal.

  • After the horrible Hillsborough accident, Hornby starts asking questions and is a bit terrified. But he doesnt' stop loving football at all.

  • In the middle of the 80s he starts getting new friends who is not interested in football. It is difficult to him when they don't know anything about his favourite team.

  • In 1989, Arsenal wins the championship. This is the best time of his life so far.
