    Agricultural Act of 1954
The Agricultural Act of 1954 was signed by President Eisenhower on July 10, 1954. The main purpose of this act was to get the rapidly growing surplus under control. The program they put in place is known as Food for Peace. This program takes those surplus commodities and gives them as aid to our foreign allies.
  • The Food and Agriculture Act of 1977

The Food and Agriculture Act of 1977
The Food and Agriculture Act of 1977 was a tough one to find information on. What I gathered is that the main focus was on nutrition. It revised the Food Stamp Program. The other fact I found was that it supported or protected producers price and income.
  • The Food Security Act of 1985

The Food Security Act of 1985
This Act made many provisions to commodities, such as, cotton, rice, dairy sugar, etc. As did the Food and Agriculture act of 1977, this Act supported income and prices. One of the programs it established was the dairy herd buyout program. basically, the farmer gives up their entire herd to slaughter and the gets reimbursed for the amount of milk that herd would have produced over 1 year.

This Act made many provisions. A few of those are, increased planting flexibility, specified the amount of money that was available through contract payments, etc. A few program were renamed, and some were eliminated. There was a lot covered in this act, but it all improved the well-being of production and producers.
