Recovery is important to the whole family not just the individual struggling with addiction.

Family Winnings

  • Measures of Trust

    Measures of Trust
Aiden is in his first year of life. His mother has always been reliable and consistent which has built Aiden's sense of trust. Finally his mother gets a day to herself and hires a babysitter. The babysitter is a friend of the mother, but has never been alone with Aiden. In Erickson's first stage of trust versus mistrust, the crises is between hope that the babysitter will be as trusting as the mother, and the amount of mistrust that Aiden may feel in the presence of someone who is unfamiliar.
  • Failure to Win

    Failure to Win
Aiden is 8 and in the third grade. Aiden always loved to run and was excited when he heard his school was having a race. Aiden was nervous to sign up, but figured he had a chance of winning so he decided to enter anyway. Unfortunately, he finished dead last, making him feel inferior to his other class mates. In Erickson’s fourth stage of Industry vs. Inferiority, this crisis is between the desire to gain full competency of a skill while still maintaining a bit of modesty through some failure.
  • Growing Love

    Growing Love
Aiden has had a few past relationships. He is 19 and has been in a relationship for about a year and a half. His relationship has grown into one that is full of commitment, love, care, and support. They say "I love you" and both see a future with each other, but there is always a part of Aiden that fears it will not work out. In Erickson's sixth stage of intimacy versus isolation, the crises is between Aiden's love for the person he's with and the fear it will not work out, leaving him isolated.
  • Care for the Future and Family

Care for the Future and Family
Aiden is now 42, with three children. He ended up marrying the woman he saw a future with. He is an artist who owns his own gallery. His main priority is to care for his family. However, sometimes he feels as though he is not making that much of a contribution to future generations. In Erickson's seventh stage of generativity versus stagnation, the crisis is between Aiden's desire to further benefit future generations and being able to achieve this goal while still caring for his family.
