Berlin Airlift
During the Berlin Airlift, Stalin closed all roads, railways, and canals leading to Berlin. This meant that the people of Berlin weren't going to have anything to eat. The US, France, and Britian flew in supplies of flour, coal, milk, and food. This continued until Stalin lifted the blockade. -

It was under the U.S. leadership to group most of the Western European powers and Canada in a defensive alliance against possible soviet aggression. -

This was a war faught between the US and USSR. After Korea was divided Kim II Sung decided that nothing short of military action would bring the country together. To end this they signed an armistice that China and North and South Korea would never fight. -

The organization was the Soviet's equivalent of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It was to counteract NATO. -

Sputnik was the first man made satelite by the Soviet Union into space. It orbited around Earth every 96 minutes until it burned up the atmosphere. -

Vietnam War
The US feared the "domino theory" of expanding communist empires, also the truman doctrine states that America would assist governments against communism. In April 1975, Northern Vietnamese took Saigon and the South Vietnamese government fell. The US part of the war ended with the truce in Janaury 1973. -
The U-2 Incident
What caused the incident was that we did not believe that the soviets had the technology to shoot it down. When they did we built a spyplane SR-71 blockade no one shot that down. -
Bay of Pigs Invasion
This was an unsuccessful attempt by a US trained force of Cuban exiles to invade southern Cuba. This was supported by US. Gov't armed forces to overthrow the Cuban government of Fidel Castro. The Cuban armed forces were trained and equipped they defeated the exile combatants in three dayas. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
This happened because the Soviet wanted to deploy missiles in Cuba. This was all because of soviet insecurity and fear of losing cuba in invasion. Krushchev made the decision to remove missiles from Cuba.
