    Lief Erikson

    Leif Erikson was Born in about 980. He was a viking explorer who was probobly the first European explorer. Erikson is believed to have reached the northern tip of Newfoundland. He died somewhere around 1020.

    Henry the Navigator

    Born in 1394. He was a portigeese explorer. He opened a school of navigation in about 1418.

    Diaz, BARTOLOMEU

    He was born in 1457. He sailed the coast of Africa. He was one of the first explorers to see Brazil. He died on an expidition in 1500. He was lost at sea near the cape of good hope.

    Columbus First Voyage

    Born in Genoa Italy, in 1451, He brought 3 ships with him on his first voyage. He set off for A route to India so he could trade spices. instead he found what is now America.

    Columbus 2nd

    He brought 17 ships with nearly 1,500 men. They Found gold and used the indians as slaves. He also named Hispanola on this voyage.

    Vasco De Gama

    Vasco De Gama was born in 1460. He was the first to sail east around Africa to Asia. He proved on this voyage that the Indian ocean was connected to other oceans.

    John Cabbot

    Born in Italy around 1450. He sailed for England and he found Canada. This is why today Canada has an English Government. Cabbot died around 1499.

    On the third expidition, Columbus went farther South and found what today is Venesuela and Trinidad.

    Amerigo Vespucci

    Born in Italy in 1454. He was the first to realize that America was not connected to Asia. One of the first to map the new world. He died in 1512.

    Columbus 4th

    On the fourth voyage, Columbus explored Central America. He died in 1506 and is now burried in Eastern Hispanola which today we call the Dominican Republic.

    Born around 1474. He was a mapmaker for England. He made the "trip around the world" He later died in 1557.

    Born in 1480. Succesfully sailed around the world, though he died in combat in 1521.

    Hernando De Soto

    Born around 1500. First European to explore Florida. He also became the Govener of Cuba. He died in 1542.

    Francisco Pizarro

    Born in 1478. He ''discovered" the Incan empire and stole all of their gold and silver. He died in 1541
