    Before this time there were many small and breakable ships. These "ships" are similar to modern day row boats. Though because of interest in exploration and the style of fishing for food, this small "ships" because larger, sturdier and could last much long at sea. With a larger and strong, more people, food and goods could be transported longer.

    Back in the second century, the first representations of a world map has been made. In 1406, the geographer Ptolomey discovered this buried treasure in western Europe. This awesome discovered leads Columbus to believe that Asia can be reached by sailing west of Europe. Little does he know that a different land stands between him and his destination.

    In 1420 the first Caravels were created in western Europe. The Spanish and Portuguese used these swift, small and tringle-sailed ships for very fast travel. This allowed explorers from everywhere get to their point faster. Also at this time, an Asin ship reounds the Cape of Good Hope near the tip of Africa.

    At this time, the first auction of black slaves were being made. This is truely a harsh time for the african america people. This moment in history marks the fisrt stage of slavery over africans. These auctions took place in Portugual.

    In the past yeras, many people used the stars as toold for navigation. Now, in 1465, this practice is being greatly overhauled with new tactics, making it very effective. The stars have always been a tool for navigation, now its incredible helpful. With this greater knowledge of the stars people now do not get lost as easily and can arrive at their destination faster and without getting side-tracked.

    The Treaty of Tordesillas divides the world;s undiscovered land between Portugual and Spain. As you can infer, some other people may want some of the undiscovered land. Though, this treaty only included Portugual and Spain. This little traty kept Spain and Portugual at any agreement for awhile and it gave them mutual benefits in doing so.

    Portuguese explorer, Vasco de Gama reaches India by rounding the tip of Africa. This shows that an explorer from Potugual (high west of Europe) can reach India in just two years. This was an amazing accomplishment for de Gama. Doing this, de Gama's fame grew intensely.

    At this time, a new world map is created with "America" named as a southern continet. The creators of this map named this land "America" in honro of Amerigo Vespucchi. As many people know, the name America stayed. Then eventually split into North America and South America.

    Many explorers during these year, were Spaniards. One explorer specifically, De Soto, explored Southeastern United States. He discovered and mapped out what is now Flordia. Many different people at this time were exploring the United States, wiether its the North or South, De Soto explored the Sutheast.

    Just like De Soto, Coronado explores the Southern Part of America. Though this explorer goes to the west. With Both De Soto and Coronado exploring the south for Spain, this culture has a big infuence on later day America. As you can seee, Spain is exploring a very wide portion of America.

    Verrazano
    in 1542, Giovanni Verrazano explores the coast of North America in the name of France. If you can imagine a map of the United States, you can clearly see th different cultures and explorers that do so, in the name of that culture. Such as Verrazanno and France on the coast, and De Soto and Coronado and Spain in the south. In the 1500s America was a very diverse land.

    To circumnavigate is to create a circuit of the world by navigating. Sir Francis Drake was the first to do this. He did this in the name of England because thats were he hailed from. This is a huge step in navigation becasue it demonstrates another way to sail the waters.

    In 1606, AUstralia is found! Now that that has been accomplish, explorers now know that Australia is there and has a possiblility of being colinized for that explorers leader. They also know that if they go looking for Asia or America, there is always a chance they may sail into Australia. This also encourages the creation of more maps for everyone to use.

    I chose these major points in history for many reasons. One of these reasons are because most of these points have somethin to do with a famous explorer and their adventures and how these actions affected ,navigation and exploration. Another reason is that the other points i've chosen is of the objects explorers used to do such explorer. These are just some reasons why i chose these major events in history to define exploration in a timeline.
