    Salutary neglect was an unwritten document by England towards the American Colonies.It also meant that Parliment would relax its enforcement of most of the regulations in return for the economic loyalty of the colonies. As long as raw materials were coming into England and colonists bought england produced goods, Parliment did not supervise the colonies closely. This was the seed to self government.

    Mercantilism is when a nation has a balance of trade.
    In order to maintain a favorable balance of trade a nation has to have more exports than it does imports. Britian looked to its American colones as a source for raw materials that were not nativee to Britian. Goods and materials were to be sold to other nations. In return the colonies were part of the biggest empire in the world and had the security of protection from the English navy and government

    The French and Indian war began in the 18th Century between in French and England.Both french and England were interested in the Ohio River Valley.Americans felt a great need for the fresh land but the boundary the English clamed had been met and any futher advancement west would infringe upon Native American and te french.The Iroqouis ( Indians) sided with both the French and the Indian but are allies with the French.

    The proclamation of 1763 forbidded anyone from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains. This was done to prevent between the colonies and the natives.The colonist were mad , they believed they deserved the land, thats why they fought in the french and indian war. To make things worst the English government also expected the colonsit to pay for the expenses from the war.

    The Stamp Act Congress was a meeting convened in New York City, respresented by nine colonies and 27 delegates. There the delegates approved a 14 point Declaration of Rights and Grievences , mostly written by John Dickerson of Pennsylvania.This reached the house of Burgesses, who argued that colonial taxation could only be carried on by their own assemblies. The delegates throw out the Stamp Act and use the vice admiralty courts for special criticism.

Colonist saw this law as another way of taxation without representation.In response they refuse to unloaf the tea from the ships which led to the Boston Tea Party.

    On the moonli evening of December 17, 1773 a large group of boston rebels disguised themselves as Native Americans and dumped 18,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor.
    Parliament responded by passing a series of measures called the Intorerable acts which shut doen the Boston Harbor because colonists refuse to pay for the damaged tea. The Quateriing act which allowed British troop into homes , Parliment also placed Boston under Martial Law which meant boston was ruled by military forces.

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord kicked off the American Revolution. On April 19 700 British troop arrived in Lexington and came upon 77 militiamen gathered on the town green. Eight Militamen were killed only on redcoat was injured.The British continued toward Concord in serched for arms but found little , they decied to burn the little they foundand the fire got slightly out of control.Militanmen hurried to Concord North Bridge which was occpied by British soilders.
