    Washington Naval Conference

    Gathering of world's greatest naval power. What was discussed was naval disarment and ways to relieve tension with eastern countries.The five big countries that signed it was U.S, Japan, Great Britain, Italy and France. It was put together after WWI in efforts to prevent another world war.
  • Locarno Treaty

    Series of treaties between France, Germany, Belgium, Italy and Great Britain basically stating that there will be peace between the countries.This was important because it was kind of like a redo of the Treaty of Versialles.
  • Kellogg-Briand Pact

    It was an agreement to outlaw war, but failed to prevent the rise of militarism in the 1930s which eventully lead to WWII.
  • Geneva Convention

    The purpose of the convention was it was related to the treatment of prisoners. It came into play on June 19th, 1931. This applied to all prisoners throughout WWII. Which is also why it was important, it was the base of prisoner treatments.
  • Violation of the Treaty of Versailles

    The treaty was violated when Hitler rebuilt armed forces and occupied demilitarized zones like Rhineland. This was crucial because Germany then became a threat to some countries.
  • Mussolini's Role In Africa

    When Mussolini came into power for Italy he brought his facist ways with him. And when he invaed Africa it was part of the plan to spread his way of ruling. This became a threat to the U.S. and concerned the United Nations.
  • Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact

    A pact between Soviet Union and Germany in which they agreed to not attack eachother. It gave Germany more land to be able to attack from with the next world war coming. But two years later Germany broke the pact and attacked the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941.
  • Japanese Internment

    President signed an order to have all Japanese-Americans be removed and put into camps. The cause of this was probably the bombing of Pearl Harbor which caused race prejudice towards the Japanese.
  • U.S use of Island Hoping

    A plan was made on this day by MacArthur and "Bull". Plan was made to eventually get to Japan's territory which they eventually did. On February of 1945 the U.S invaded Iwo Jima. The strategy gave U.S an advantage and the Japanese were surprised and lead to many more bloody battles.

    In july Eisenhower was appointed as lieutenant. And starts helping out with operation torch. As a leader for the Allied powers his strategic plans won the respect of the country and other countries.

    Battle of El Alamein/Invasion of Egypt

    Battle fought on the coast of Egypt. Axis powers were trying to take over Egypt but the Allied were able to fight off the Axis powers which gave more advantage to the allies. The more land, the better.

    Tunisia Campaign

    Also known as Battle of Tunisia. It was a series of battles fought between the axis and allied powers. Axis powers had a great start but eventually the lack of supplies lead to their defeat and the allied came out with the win. It was another great win for the allied.
  • Italy's Surrender

    This day Eisenhower publicily announces Italy's surrender to the Allied powers. News is spread and Germany creates Operation Axis which is the occupation of Italy. The importance of this is now U.S has a place to land close by to Germany giving them a close advantage to attack.

    The Dumbarton Oaks Conference

    Or also known as, Washington Conversations on International Peace and Security Organization. The United Nations were formed then and it was made to make peace between the countries. The importance of this was to be able to have something that brings the leaders together and talk about the situation.
  • Marshall Plan

    Also known as the European Recovery Plan. United States gave $13 billion to help aid European countries. Importance of this was the United States wanted to rebuild damange done from war and remove barriers countries put up to try and protect themselves at the time.
