    The French and Indian War was a war from 1754 to 1763. The natives and the French fought along together against Great Britain but in the end Great britain won and gained an enormous amount of land from France.

    The Stamp Act was ratified in 1765 by the British Parliament under King George III. It created Tax on all the colonies in America but wasn't placed in England too.
  • Sons of Liberty

    Sons of Liberty

    The Sons of Liberty were organized in the summer of 1765.
    They created the Sons of Liberty to protest the passing of of the Stamp act of 1765. they had a motto saying "No taxation without representation." They used violence to intimidate the loyalists and outrage the British Government.
  • Townshend Act of 1767

    Townshend Act of 1767

    The townshend acts were imposed in 1766 and ended in 1767. The Townshend acts were imposed because it was to help pay for the expenses involved in governing the American colonies. It initiated tax on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred on May 5, 1770. It was between a Patriot mob, throwing snowballs, sticks, and stones, and a squad of British soldiers. Several people were killed and it lead to a campaign by speech writers to create the ire of citizenry.

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest that occurred on December 16, 1773. American Colonists were frustrated with Britain for imposing "taxation without representation", they dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor.
  • Battles of Lexington & Concord

    Battles of Lexington & Concord

    On April 19th, 1775 the Battle of Lexington & Concord took place. The famous shot heard around the world marked the start of the American War of Independence. It was very bad for the British and it persuaded many Americans to come and join the cause of the Indepence.

    On June 17, 1775, New england soldiers fought the British army for the first time. The Battle of Bunker hill got its name because of the hilly landscape the battle was fought over.
  • Declaration of Independence Adopted

    Declaration of Independence Adopted

    On July 4th, 1776, the Thirteen Colonies severed their ties with Great Britain by issuing the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration stated the colonists motivations for seeking independence from Great Britain.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown

    British troops decide to surrender to the American Army after a three week battle in which the British had great losses. This battle led to the negotiations for peace with the british.
  • Treaty of Paris Signed

    Treaty of Paris Signed

    The Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3rd, 1783, between the American colonies and Great Britain. This ended the American Revolution and finally recognized America as an independent nation.
  • Constitutional Convention

    The Constitutional Convention took place on May 14th, 1787 to September 17, 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The even was to decide how America was going to be governed.
