  • Spark- Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord kicked, or "sparked" the American Revolution. Tensions were already high between the colonists and England. English troops were going to concord to find rebels , but colonists at Lexington were ready to stop them. They met at Lexington, and fired there.     First battle- Bunker Hill
    The British fought against the colonists at Massachusetts, on the nearby Breed's Hill. The colonists were winning the battle, but were low on supplies. The British overall won, but suffered many casualties.     Turning Point-Saratoga
    There were two battles in the Battle of Saratoga. British general John Burgoyne fought against the colonists won the first battle, but lost a lot of soldiers. Even though he didnt have as many troops, he still tried to raid the colonists a second time. He failed the second time, and the colonists had defeated the British to win.     Valley forge was the low point of the American Revolution. The trrops had set up a camp caleed Valley Forge. This camp was filled up with cold, hungry, and helpless soldiers. Their clothes were worn out, and some disbanded from the army. George Washington tried to keep them together, and when they survived the harsh winter, they weren't only ragtag minutemen, but they were an army.

    Last battle- Yorktown
    George Washington led a group of colonial and French troops against General Cornwallis. this battle was on the sea and land. Cornwallis tried to create a truce, but we refused, and he surrendered. This battle officially ended the war, and the colonists had gotten independence.
