events leading up to the revolutionary war

  • the Albany congress

    where-the Albany congress was held in Albany New York.The purpose of the meting was to get the 13 colonies to come together to beat the french. Ben Franklin and all of the colonies representatives were there. The British wanted the Iroquois to join them to win the war. they rejected. Ben was the first man to ever try to bring the colonies together.

    who- french and the native Americans vs the British,Iroquois, and the Colonists. what- British win the war. French lost entire empire in north America. where- North America. why- Control over the Ohio River Valley.
  • the quartering act

    this act required settlers to take care and house British solders and provide them with food and other supplies. The colonists ended up protesting that it was violating there rights.

    Pontiac's War

    Pontiac and his allies attacked British forts and settlements through out the area. nearly dozens of British forts were destroyed and at least 2000 back country settlers were killed.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    the Proclamation of 1763 banned colonial settlement west of a line drawn along the Appalachian mountains.Settlers were told to move east of that line.the proclamation was ignored and proved impossible for the British to enforce.this accrued in Britten.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Britain and France both decided to sign the treaty of Paris.By doing so the french lost nearly there entire empire in North America. The treaty was signed in Paris. the British received French Canada, land east from the Mississippi, and Spanish Florida. Native Americans payed a great deal without France.

    this put new taxis on several products including molasses. this accrued on Britten.this also called for harsh punishment of smugglers.

    This act required all colonists tho buy special taxed stamps for all kinds of products and activities. protests to the stamp act grew fast.The house of burgesses said that Virginia had the right to be taxed.
  • The Boston Massacre.

    In Boston an angry mob of protesters surrounded a small group of red coats. They shouted at the solders and through snow and rocks at them.The frighten solders fired killing five men in Boston.

    The tea act was intended to help the British east India company. Evan though the tea act lowers the price of tea the colonists still protested cause it was giving the eat India company a monopoly.
  • Boston tea party

    This act took place in Boston. A group of colonists called the sons of liberty soon organized a party to stop the east India company from unloading tea. This ended up with 1,000,000 dollars worth of tea dumped into Boston Harbor.

    The first continental congress took place in Philadelphia. 12 of the 13 colonies sent delegates. Georgia did not send a representative. John Adams and Samuel Adams were there from Mass. Gouge washing and Patrick Henry from Virginia were there too. The congress demainded the end of the intolerable act and have the right to tax and govern them self.

    The British herd that the minute men were storing weapons so the Governor sent 700 British solders to concord to take them. by the time they got there there were 73 minute men standing in line someone fired and that started the revolutionary war.
  • The second contonentle congress

    In Philadelphia a second continental congress came together once again. This time to prepare for war, the congress chose Gorge Washington for the war general, print paper money, and come together as a government.
  • battle of fort Ticonderoga.

    The patriots decided to put up a surprise attack on fort Ticonderoga. The British fled. The fort was important for 2 reasons, they had cannons, and controlled the rout to Canada and the Hudson river valley.

    The colonists controlled bunker hill the patriots lost the battle due to loss of ammunition. the colonists built trenches to hide in so they could shoot but they lost all ammunition and were forced to retreat.
  • the olive branch partition.

    the olive branch was a way to make peace with Britain. King Gorge the 3rd just through it out before even looking at it and sent 20,000 more solders.
  • innovation of Quebec.

    durring a severe snow storm the Americans attacked Quebec. The attack was turned back Montgomery was killed and Arnold was wounded.
  • the British withdraw from Boston

    Boston was surrounded by cannons so the patriots could fire upon them. The British could no longer defend the city. Eventually the British all left Boston and never came back.
