    (BC) Ancient Greece influenced the constitution because it was one of the first civilizations to use democracy. Greece let the people vote for thier leaders and that's what influenced the constitution.

    The Magna Carta

    The Magna Carta influenced the Constitution because it showed the authors what a government shouldn't be like. It helped them establish a good government and made sure that no one had too much power.
  • Mayflower Compact

    The Mayflower compact affected the Constitution because it was the first government set up by the colonists. It made it easier for the authors ot establish a government.
  • Thomas Hobbes

    Thomas Hobbes (Leviathan) affected the Constitution because it talked about what a government should be like. It also talked about Social Contract which was used in the Constitution.
  • John Locke

    John Locke (ttog) affected the Constitution because it talked about natural rights. This is one thing that was included in the constitution.
  • English Bill of Rights

    The English Bill of Rights affected the Constitution because it showed the authors what rights the people needed to have. It helped them establish a government that gave people freedom.

    Rousseau (Social Contract) Affected the Constitution because it talked about how to establish a government. His theories were included in the constitution.

    Voltaire (Treatise on Tolerance) affected the Constitution because it talked about tolerance for all religions and beliefs. This made the government less oppressive and protected peoples rights.

    Cesare Beccaria (Crime and Punishment) affected the Constitution because it talked about justice. It helped the authors set up laws and penalties.

    The First Continental Congress came together to combine and show authority to Great Britain. This affected the constitution because it forced all the colonies to be united.

    The Second Continental Congress met after the Revolutionary War had begun. This affected the Constitution because it helped America win the war which gave us our independance.
  • Declaration of Independance

    The Declaration of Independance influenced the constitution because it helped give America it's freedom not long before the constitution was written. The writers of the Constitution believed that the Declaration of Independance was the foundation of the US government.
  • Articles of Confederation

    The Articles of Confederation affected the Constitution because they were the first documents that set up America. The constitution was written to replace the Articles of Confederation and much of the Constitution was based on them.

    The Treaty of Paris affected the Constitution because it ended the Revolutionary War. It gave America it's independance and ended the conflict with Great Britain.

    The Constitutional Convention originally met to discuss the Articles of Confederation and revise them. However, the result of the convention was the creation of the US Constitution.

    Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion affected the Constitution because it showed the authors of the Constitution that too strong of a government was a bad thing. If Shay's Rebellion hadn't taken place, the government would have too much power and the Constitution wouldn't be the same.

    (BC) Rome used the idea of voting for representatives. They voted for many other things as well, like going to war. Rome used the ideas that the Greeks invented and added on to them.
