    Selective Service act approved of in 1917 allowed the U.S. government to enlist american citizens that qualified for the U.S. army for World War 1. Woodrow Wilson realized that the U.S. army’s small group of volunteers wasn't enough to win the war so he passed this act.

    Hitler joined the nazi party as the leader when it was founded in 1921. Twelve years later he became chancellor of Germany and became a dictator along with his nazi party.

    The kellogg briand Pact of 1928 was an international peace treaty proposed by France and the U.S. that was signed by 15 nations all promising they would not use war to fix their problems. Although this act was a great idea to ban war, unfortunately it didn’t work.

    In 1931 Japan stormed into Manchuria killing thousands of soldiers and civilians. China went to the league of nations for help and after the league saw what was going on. They claimed that Japan was wrong and they voted that Manchuria belongs to China.

    The Enabling act of 1933 allowed Adolf Hitler to have Dictatorial powers. This act was meant to remove distress in Germany which was caused by the Nazis when they burned down the Reichstag building. They did this so that Hitler could become a dictator in order to remove this distress.

    F.D.R. signs the neutrality act of 1935 to prevent the U.S. from going into war again. This act put embargos on belligerent countries referring to Germany, and Italy. This act also didn’t allow U.S. ships to enter war zones.

    In 1940 at a Democratic party convention in chicago someone suggested that F.D.R. should run for a third term. He won the election against Wendell Wilkie for his third term. He served his third term during world war 2 and was the only president to serve more than 2 terms.

    A Philip Randolph’s March and Roosevelt’s Response
    Philip Randolph was a civil rights leader in the 1940's. He was working for many years to change the law on how African Americans should be allowed to be drafted for war. After many attempts to change this he organized a huge march over 18 cities. After many threats of over 100,000 people going to march to Washington, Roosevelt had another meeting with Randolph and finally signed an executive order granting Rudolph's risk.

    The lend lease act enabled the U.S. to provide foreign aid to its allies during WWll. It gave Roosevelt authorization to transfer weapons, supplies, and money to its allies to help them fight the enemy.
  • Japanese Bomb Pearl Harbor

    Japanese Bomb Pearl Harbor
    Japanese A6M Zero fighter planes bombed the United States Pacific naval fleet. The attack killed more then twenty three hundred Americans. The Japanese used torpedo bombs which sank ships with people trapped inside like the USS Arizona which still lies at the bottom of Pearl Harbor today.

    Only four days after the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor, hitler officially declared war on the United States. Hitler was surprise that the Japanese actually attacked the United States. He went head and declared war on them because the thought the U.S. would retaliate against them. Plus, the U.S. was attacking German u boats and Hitler despised Roosevelt's negative comments about the Nazi party.
