  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    Was enacted by England on the colonies to pay for England having to defend the colonies. It taxed legal documents, ships, and newspapers. The colonists refused and protested this act.
  • The Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts were a series of acts passed by British Parliament in response to the protesting of the Stamp Act. The Acts did not work, so England sent troops to take control of the colonies and stop the protest.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a response to The Tea Act. The Colonist dressed as Native Americans and threw 10,000 Dollars worth of tea into the Boston harbor.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable(Coercive) Acts were England's response to The Boston Tea Party. They were made up by 4 different acts; The Quartering Act, The Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, and Administration of Justice Act.

    The First Continental Congress
    The First Continental Congress was the American's response to the Intolerable Acts. They were convened the Committee of Correspondence. The First Continental Congress met in Philadelphia. All of the colonies except for Georgia were represented. The picture is of the first prayer in congress.

    Colonist were threatening a British squadron by throwing rocks and snowballs. The army men responded by shooting and killing 5 people. The army men were given a citizens trial.
