  • My Baptism

    My Baptism
    On September 9, 2001 I was baptized at Saint Malachy's Rectory in Philadelphia. This is an important sacrament for Christians because it is supposed to rid you from original sin with which you are born. My god parents were my Aunt Anne and Uncle Richard and it became a day of great celebration.This was the first of other sacraments I have received since then.

    September 11, 2001 is often been referred to as the most horrific day in US history. The Twin Towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington DC were hit by hijacked plane. Terrorists took over two planes heading from Boston to Los Angeles and crashed them into the Twin Towers.(History.com)

    On April 2, 2002 my younger brother, Gannon, was born. He is my only brother and one of my closest friends. We are very close in age and have very similar interests.

    On this day in 2003 the United States initiates war on Iraq. Shortly after the US declares war on Iraq a series of explosions begin to rock Baghdad, Iraq's capital. President Bush claimed the reason for the war was Iraq had, or was making weapons of mass destruction. Bush said in his televised address, "At this hour American and coalition forces are in the early stages of military operations to disarm Iraq, to free its people and defend the world from grave danger."     Democrats nominate John Kerry
    In 2004 John Kerry won the Democratic nomination for president after focusing much of his campaign on criticizing President George W. Bush. On July 29, 2004 Kerry was officially nominated as the Democratic nominee for president in Boston. Kerry took the nomination and would go on to face President George W. Bush in the General Election. Despite all his criticism of Bush, George W. Bush would end up defeating Kerry in November of 2004. (Biography.com)

    On January 20, 2005 George W. Bush was sworn into office to begin his second term. Bush was re-elected after defeating Democratic nominee John Kerry in the 2004 election. Despite being extremely well liked throughout his first term, Bush was heavily criticized during his second term. His biggest criticism was his slow response to what happened to victims of Hurricane Katrina. (History.com)

    Hurricane Katrina hits the United States
    In the early morning of August 29, 2016 Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf coast of the United States. The storm made landfall with a category 3 rating and winds raging between 100-140 mph.The Hurricane stretched 400 miles across and left a great deal of damage with a catastrophic impact. Their was massive flooding and according to many the federal government was slow to react. Even today Katrina still affects the lives of many. (history.com)

    Birth of my sisters
    On December 30, 2005 my little sisters Harper and Piper were born at Abington Hospital. They were twins and my brother Gannon and I came to the hospital to meet them a little after they were born. They were twins, however they are not identical. Harper was born 19 minutes before Piper making her slightly older.

    On September 6, 2006 I began my academic career with my first day of kindergarten. I got on the bus to Copper Beech Elementary School that day and started my journey through school. This was a very important day for me because it was the start of my schooling in Abington.
  • Philadelphia Phillies win 2008 World Series

    Philadelphia Phillies win 2008 World Series
    On October 28, 2008 I witnessed the lone Philadelphia sports championship in my lifetime. The Phillies defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in 5 games to win the World Series. This was one of the easiest days to remember in all my life as I was extremely excited.The Phillies won the final game 4-3 and Brad Lidge struck out Eric Hinske for the final out.

    On January 20, 2009 Barack Obama took office as the 44th president of the United States of America. Obama defeated John McCain, the republican nominee in the 2008 election.Obama made history as he was the first African American president in American history. On the day of his inauguration there were more than 1 million people in Washington D.C. to witness this historic event.

    On November 15, 2009 I received my first holy Communion at St. Luke's Church in Glenside, PA. This is a celebrated Catholic sacrament with great importance. From that point forward I could take communion at regular mass every Sunday. This was a very important day in my Catholic life.

    On March 7, 2011 the adoption of my youngest sister, Reagan, was finalized. She had been living with us since April 1, 2010 and was 2 when she first arrived at our home. She is the youngest of my five siblings.

    On May, 2 2011 the leader of Al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, was killed by US special forces in Abbottabad, Pakistan. bin Laden and his group Al Qaeda were responsible for the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. US special forces were able to get to bin Laden who was in a large home in Abbottabad. In the United States many Americans celebrated the death of the United States largest enemy. (cnn.com)

    Republicans nominate Mitt Romney
    In 2012 at the Republican National Convention. Mitt Romney was nominated to face off against President Barack Obama. Romney criticized Obama throughout his campaign for a majority of issues. His main point of emphasis was Obama's health care plan known as Obamacare. In the end however, Romney would lose and Obama would be re-elected as president.(biography.com)

    Sandy Hook Elementary School tragic shooting
    On December 14, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut Adam Lanza, 20, killed his mother, Nancy, whom he lived with. He then drove in her car to Sandy Hook elementary where Nancy taught kindergarten. Lanza went into the school with guns and killed 6 adults and 20 children. After killing all of these people Lanza than took his own life making the death total 28. (washingtonpost.com)

    On January 20, 2013 Barack Obama was sworn in after defeating Mitt Romney and getting re-elected.Barack Obama's second inauguration marked the start of his second term as president and Joe Biden's second term as vice president. Obama had a private swearing-in ceremony in the blue room of the White House. Obama was optimistic in his inaugural address saying, "America's possibilities are limitless." (whitehouse.gov)
  • Boston Marathon bombed

    Boston Marathon bombed
    On April 13, 2013 two bombs exploded close to the finish line at the Boston Marathon killing 3 spectators and wounding 260 people. After an intense manhunt that shut down the entire Boston area police found the two suspects four days after the marathon. The suspects were 19 year old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his 26 year old brother, Tamerlan. The two were caught after a shoot out with Boston police. It was later determined the two planned and carried out the attack.(history.com)
  • First day of Junior High school

    First day of Junior High school
    September 3, 2013 was my first day of junior high school. I began seventh grade at Abington Junior High School. All of the other seventh graders were also new to the school as seventh grade marked the end of elementary school. No longer was I a Cougar of Copper Beech but now an Abington Ghost. Everyone was nervous and lost but eventually everyone got the hang of things at the junior high.

    On April 25, 2014 I was confirmed as a member of the Catholic church at St. Luke's in Glenside PA. My sponsor was my mother's father, my grandfather because I had also looked up to him. My confirmation name was Charles after St. Charles. This was an important day because it was when I became an adult in the eyes of the church.

    On June 26, 2015 the US Supreme Court legalizes same sex marriage everywhere in America. This meant the 14 states that previously banned same-sex marriage could no longer make it illegal in their states. President Obama called the ruling a "victory for America". Obama said, "When all Americans are treated equal, we are all more free."(bbc.com)

    Deadly shooting at Orlando night club
    An American-born man who pledged allegiance to ISIS killed 49 people at a gay night club in Orlando, Florida. This was the biggest mass shooting in US history and the biggest terror attack since 9/11. Omar Mateen, the gunman, was interviewed by the FBI in 2013 and 2014 but was not found to be a threat. Mateen was shot and killed by Orlando police and his ex wife later said she believed he was mentally ill. (cnn.com)

    Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump elected as democrat and republican nominees
    Hillary Clinton(Democrat) and Donald Trump (Republican) were both nominated by their respective parties for president of the US. Trump was nominated at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio on July 21, 2016. Clinton was nominated at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 28, 2016. Come late January 2017 one of the two will be the 45th President of the United States.(cnn.com)
