  • French and Indian

    French and Indian
    The French and Indian War was a part of the seven-year war between England and the American colonies, against the French and some of the Indians in North America. When the war ended, France was no longer in control of Canada, and the French were forced to leave the Ohio River Valley. Both the French colonists, who claimed the land, and British colonists had business with Native Americans in Ohio to trade fur.By the 1750s, British colonists wanted to start building farms in the Ohio River Basin.
  • Proclamation

    Proclamation
    Proclamation by Britain at the end of the French and Indian War that prohibited settlement by whites on Indian territory. It established a British-administered reservation from west of the Appalachians and south of Hudson Bay to the Floridas and ordered white settlers to withdraw. It formalized Indian land titles and forbade land patents without a purchase.

    A law was passed by Parliament that raised the tax on money by requiring colonists to pay for an offical stamp whenever they brought paper items such as newspaper, licenses, and legal documents.The stamp act of 1765 was the requirement that all legal documents and contracts had to have a stamp on it.In 1776 the British stopped the Stamp Act since the people were not very happy at all.

    On Thursday the 16th of December the Boston Tea Party in which American patriots dressed as Indians threw 342 chests of tea from three British ships into Boston Harbour. Their leader was Samuel Adams ,watched the action that was taking the payments of a British-imposed tax on tea and the protest of the British monopoly of the colonial tea trade authorized by the Tea Act.

    The First Continental congress was the writing of the constitution,also the agreement to boycott British goods,and they agreement of the states to meet again if Great Britain did not change its policies.
  • The battle of Lexington and Concord

     The battle of Lexington and Concord
    In Massachusetts was the start of the American Revolution as the British fired the “shot heard ’round the world.”When the shots were fired several of the 77 men in Concord died on the Lexington green.The British basically won the morning in Lexington, but lost the day at Concord and going back to Boston.

    Thomas Paine writes Common Sense
    There is no exact date when Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense.Thomas Paine wrote a small pamphlet during the Revolutionary War which explained personal responsibilities, this changed many people's minds about the war.Thomas Paine's Common Sense also criticized monarchies and convinced many American colonists of the need to break away from Britain,and to encourage the colonies to declare independence from Great Britain.

    The Declaration of Independence was a document approved by the Continental Congress that announced the separation of the 13 North American British colonies from Britain.It began with a declaration of individual rights and then listed the acts of tyranny by George III that formed the justification for seeking independence. After debate and changes to accommodate regional interests, including deletion of a condemnation of slavery

    George Washington commanded the American side, and William Howe commanded the British side .The battle lasted three days.The result of the Battle of Long Island was that the British drove Washington's troops out of Brooklyn.

    The Battle of Trenton was a battle of the Revolutionary War following a surprise attack of Continental troops under the command of George Washington on British and Hessian troops at Trenton, New Jersey. Washington and his men crossed the cold,icy Delaware River on Christmas Day and Washington's Army crossed the Delaware,surprised the British ,and attacked the next day, completely surprising the British. It was the first American victory of the war, and helped to restore American morale.
