  • Albany Congress June 1754

    The Albany congress was formed to try to bring the colonies together to fight the French. To make the point clear Benjamin Franklin put a picture in his newspaper a picture of a snake coped into little peaces. There plan worked and they defeated the French.

    French and Indian War

    French Indians vs. British,colonists,Iroquois both wanted control over Ohio river valley. The British won the war and the French lost most of there land.
  • Treaty of Paris

    When the Treaty of Paris was signed France lost all of its land on the east of the Mississippi to the British, with the exception of New Orleans. British also gained French Canada and Spanish Florida.

    The Quartering Act was when you took soldiers and gave the food water and a place to sleep, and it was to save Britain money.

    Pontiac's War

    The last day of the French and Indian War Pontiac the leader of the Ottawa nation made an alliance with the western Native Americans.May 1763 Pontiac and his allies attacked British forts and killed at least 2000 back country settlers were killed.More than 6 British forts were destroyed. The British finally defeated the Pontiac's forces in August at a battle near Fort Pitt. Pontiac continued to fight for another year until the war was over.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    British wanted to have no more wars with Native Americans so they issued the "Proclamation of 1763". It banded colonists settling west of the line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains. The proclamation angered many colonists. The new law was largely ignored by the colonists and was impossible to inforce.
  • Sugar Act

    The colonist wee not happy about this tax either because they had to pay more money for there sugar products. The merchants sometimes smuggled goods into the colonies.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act put a tax on any written document.The colonies boycotted this act and the act was repealed.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre happened because the colonists were protesting and throwing rocks and snowballs at British troops. The British troops were outnumbered by hundreds of colonists. The troops shot into the crowed and killed 5 and wounded 6.
  • Tea Act

    It's intent was to help the East India Company, one of Britain's most important companies. The colonies boycotted the tea and seriously hurt the company. So the colonies boycott worked again.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea party was organized by the sons of liberty. The Boston Tea Party acered on December 16 1773 and a large group of men disguised like Native Americans threw 342 cases of tea over board.
  • Intolerable Acts

    In response to the Boston Tea Party Parliament past the four laws the colonists called the Intolerable Acts. The four laws were they closed the port of Boston, the second abolished the upper house of the Mass. legislature, the third law said that anyone accused of murdering a British colonial leader had to be trialed in Britain. The fourth law strengthened the Quartering Act.
  • The first Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress was formed to establish a proclamation to get the British to repeal the Intolerable Acts. The also demanded that the colonies had the right to govern themselves.
  • The Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord happened because the patriots had been stashing arms and the British wanted to get the arms so they can't revolt against the British. So they sent 700 troops to Lexington and Concord to seize the arms.
  • Battle of Fort Ticonderoga

    The Battle of Fort Ticonderoga was an important victory for the Patriots, they seized many cannons to fight the British. The Americans crossed the lake at night and surprised them in the early morning and the British surrendered immediately.
  • The Second Continental Congress

    The second continental congress was to decide what to do about the British. They formed the Second Continental Congress because the King didn't respond to the proclamations made by the Continental Congress. Some people wanted to declare our independence, others wanted to take less drastic measures but they all agreed that they needed to prepare for war.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    The Olive Branch petition was made to try to restore peace with King George. It stated that the colonies were still his loyal subjects and that they had no problem with him just Parliament. They asked the king to talk on there behalf.
  • Battle of Bunker and Breeds Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill was a win for the British but at a terrible cost.There were three battles at Bunker Hill. The Americans won the first two but the third they ran out of ammunition and had to retreat. The British lost more than 1000 dead or wounded, the Americans lost about 400 dead or wounded.
  • The British withdrawal from Boston

    After the Battle of Bunker Hill George Washington needed to build a army and get powerful weapons to drive the British away. On March 17 1776 the British could no longer protect the city of Boston and left never to return to Boston again.
