  • Yakatory is born

  • Obesity problem

    Yakatory begins to suffer from obesity. He began eating very unhealthy and soon weighed 200 pounds.
  • Yakatory goes on a diet

    Yakatory goes on a diet
    Yakatory begins to feel bad about his appearance. Kid's at school make fun of him and he isnt able to keep up with kids in sports because of his weight. So Yakatory and his mom create a special diet and exercise schedule for Yakatory to follow to help him lose weight. Over about a 6 month period, Yakatory's diet was successful. In that period of time Yakatory lost a total of 60 pounds and now maintained a healthy weight.
  • Yakatory's grandmother gets cancer

    Yakatory's grandmother gets cancer
    Yakatory's grandmother is diagnosed with cancer at 89 years old. Yakatory begins to feel stress and is afraid that his grandmother will die.
  • Yakatory's stress

    Yakatory began to feel irritable and experienced mood swings. He also found out that the stress had caused high blood pressure in Yakatory. So Yakatory learned that he should be concious of what he eats. By eating healthier, Yakatory can reduce his blood pressure, lower his cholesterol, reduce his risk of stroke, and lower his risk of certain cancers.
  • Coping

    Yakatory soon begins to understand the situation with grandmother. He realizes that she is very old and has lived a great life. He will be okay if she passes away.
  • Puberty

    Yakatory begins to go through puberty. His body is changing and so is his mind. Facial hair began to appear on Yakatory and his voice began to deepen. Yakatory aslo began thinking logically and understanding other points of view.
  • Yakatory's grandmother dies

    Yakatory's grandmother dies at the age of 89. He thought he would be prepared for this loss, but he wasnt. The death of his grandmother left Yakatory heart broken.
  • Acceptance

    Soon, Yakatory entered the acceptance stage of grief. He began to face the reality of the loss and eventually expirienced closure.
  • Eating Healthier

    By eating healthier, Yakatory can reduce his blood pressure, lower his cholesterol, reduce his risk of stroke, and lower his risk of certain cancers.
  • Friend begins drinking

    Friend begins drinking
    Yakatory's friend, Jack, starts drinking alcohol on the weekend and soons asks Yakatory to join him. But Yakatory is worried that his friend will get in trouble if he drinks. He is also worried that Jack will do something dangerous while he is drunk. He wonders if his friends with aquire heart problems or high blood pressure. Yakatory wants Jack to stop but he doesnt know how to ask him to quit. And Yakatory begins to think what if Jack asks him to join in.
  • Abstinence

    Yakatory makes a pledge to stay abstinent. He has made a promise with his parents that he will wait. A few tips they gave him was to avoid drinking, avoid drugs, think about the consequences, and remember why you want to stay abstinence.
  • Depression

    Yakatory begins to expeirience the stages of grief. Yakatory started to feel isolated and hopeless as he entered the depression stage of grief.
  • Family Disease

    Yakatory learns that his family has a history of heart disease. This means that his family will have to start eating healthier food and getting more exercise. This will require Yakatory to maintain a specific diet and reduce his risk of getting the disease.
  • College

    Yakatory is accepted into UCLA
  • Uncle Peter Starts Smoking

    Uncle Peter Starts Smoking
    Yakatory's Uncle Peter had quit smoking in 2012. But stressful events in his life such as his mother dying caused him to start again. Yakatory is worried that his uncle could end up getting lung cancer. He is also worried that smoking could cause Coronary Heart Disease or even a stroke.
  • Party

    Yakatory and his friend Sam go to a college party. Yakatory decides that he wont drink or smoke. However, Sam gets wasted and high. So Yakatory took the keys from Sam and drove them home. He told Sam the risks of drinking and driving. He told him that it slows the reflexes and reduced the ability to judge distances and speeds. He wanted to make sure that Sam never drinks and drives ever again.
  • The Flu

    While in college at UCLA, Yakatory gets influenza. He stays home for the entire week sick.
    While trying to treat his sickness, Yakatory got lots of rest and provided himself with proper nutrition. He also took a few antiviral drugs to help.
    Yakatory also found many ways to reduce his risk for getting the flu on the computer. He learned that he should wash his hands often, avoid close contact with sick people, and eating right and exercising.
