Once a child is referred, the IEP team has 15 days to hold a Disposition meeting to determine: if there is existing support services available to everyone, if additional information is required, or if there is additional concerns.

This will be regarding the disposition of the referral, including the reasons.

After receiving a receipt of parental consent to evaluate, the evaluation process must be completed within 60 days. This will determine the child's strength and weaknesses, the possible disabilities the student may have, and the impact this possible disability may have on the child's academic life.

If the child is found eligible for special education and related services, the IEP Team must meet to begin developing an IEP within 30 days of the eligibility determination.

The IEP team has 30 calendar days from the time a child is determined eligible for special education to conduct a meeting to begin writing the initial IEP.

No extensions are allowed for initial evaluations. For reevaluations, the evaluation process must be completed within 60 days, but the parents and school district may agree to an extension of a specific number of days, not to exceed 30 days.
