The Diet of the Holy Roman empire legally signed to allow Lutherans and Catholics to coexist in Germany at peace. This was made and signed because of the ongoing conflicts due to the reformation. However, it eventually failed and lead to the thirty year war.

France was home to both protestants and Roman-Catholics, and because of this, the two sides often fought and disagreed with each other. The protestants believed in calvinism, which meant the country would be secular-the church didn't have political power. However, the Catholics strongly disagreed and thought the church was the only force that had enough power to run a mans day to day life. As an effect, the French Wars of religion continued as a Civil War.

On this day, about 3,000 people in Paris, France were killed in the Massacre. The Roman Catholics attacked the Huguenots because of their opposing beliefs. The Catholics killed these innocent people because they thought the Huguenots were after the Crown.

King Henry IV of France granted freedom of religion to the Huguenots (protestants.) He did so in hopes to unify his country. This signing was a leap in the right direction of different religions living in harmony among one another.

This war was fought between the Catholics and Protestants in Europe. It was fought because the peace treaties that allowed the different religions to live together failed. The two sides fought over land and religious beliefs. The 30 year war was not actually one war, but it was a series of ongoing wars during the era.

This treaty ended the 8 year war between the Spanish, Dutch, and Germans. This was a very big step in the right direction towards peace between the different religions ands secularism. Therefore, it created foreign alliances.
