    Pineda explored the Gulf coast and made a map about it. It is important because it was the first known map of the area, and it made it easier to explore the Gulf coast land like Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Alabama.

    DeVaca found Galveston on accident because he got lost at sea. He wandered the New World for eight years before the Spanish found him. The tribes that he met were the Krankawa and the Coahuiltecan.

    Esteban went to the New World to study the land and look for the City of Gold. He went into a village where he thought he had been before and said " give me your gold and women". The Indians killed him and Fray Marcos said "the gold city is real I saw it".

    His guide did not want to help with second part because he found out that the gold city was not real. The guide died because Coronado did not believe him and said, "dig your own grave." He did and Coronado strangled him to death. His report was don't go to Texas because there is nothing there and it is harsh land and it is awful.

    Pizzairo was the leader, but he was assassinated on June 26, 1541. Moscoso said the same thing that Coronado had "it is a harsh land there is no gold or anything good there."
