    Houdini met manager Martin Beck. Martin was impressed by Houdini's handcuff trick. Marrtin advised hom to keep up the escape acts. And got him a gig on the vaudeville circuit. Within months he was preforming.

    Houdini preformed an act were he would put on a regulation stright jacket and be hung by his feet from a building, and wiggle his way out of the straight jacket.This was his most popular public preformance and it helped his career a lot. Thousands of people would watch inculding the news.

    Thousands of people watched Houdini try to escape from a hancuff contrapsion, keeping them suspenced for an hour. This act was admired by many and got more difficuld by adding more handcuffs ect.

    This is when Houdini decided to put his handcuff act behind him. He now was escaping from locked, water-filled milk cans. He also expanded his tricks by letting the audiunce choose what he should escape from.These included nailed packing crates, riveted boilers, wet-sheets, and mailbags. The hardest one of all was when he escaped from a belly of a whale.

    At this time a good amount of viewers wanted Houdini to change his milk can act to the Chinese tourture cell. In this escape Houdini would be locked in stocks by his feet, hung upside down, lowered into the cell, and try to escape while the cell was filling up with water. Most said that this was his signature trick.

    Anothe publicity stunt that Houdini preformed was overboard. This trick was where he was put in a crate weighed down by lead and the crate was nailed shut, and then submerged in water. The problem was that he was not aloud to preform this at the pier so he hired a tug boat and invited press on the boat to watch his stunt.

    1915-1927 Houdini attempted 3 variations of his buried alive trick. The first one was when Houdini was put in a 6ft deep hole with nothing. Right when he got his hand to the surface he was knocked out. He then had to be rescued. His second attempt was when he was put in a coffin then put in a pool. He managed to stay in the coffin for 1 hour 11 minutes. His 3rd and final atempt was when he was put in a glass container and covered with sand. This trick was never shown before Houdini died.
