    The egg and sperm have met each other in the uterus, and the egg is now fertilized. The egg is now a zygote.

    The first trimester of pregnancy is considered month 1,2, and 3. This trimester its common for most miscarriges to happen.

    THe blastocyct implants into uterus and begins it development.

    The endoderm is a simple tube lined with mucous. The ectoderm gives rise outermost layer of skin, central and peripheral nervous systems, eyes, inner ear, and many connective tissues. The mesoderm is the foundation for baby's bones, muscles, kidneys and much of the reproductive system.

    The first month of pregnancy is over. The baby weighs the same as a grain of rice , and is 1/4 of inch long.

    The face and arms start developing in week five. The arms and legs are just little buds that are starting to form on the baby. The face is starting to develop its looks that it will have at birth.

    The fingers, nose, and ears have started to develop in week 6 of pregnancy. They do not fully function yet.

    The muscles start developing in the seventh week of pregnancy. Throughout the pregnancy they develope more and become stronger each month.

    The second month is over. The baby now weighs 1/3 of an ounch, and is less than half an inch long. The fingers are starting to form. The lungs begin to form.

    The fingers and toes are are now distiguisable onthe hands and feet. They are webbed, but they are there! The lungs also start developing at this time. This is week 8 of pregnancy.

    The ribs start to become visible on the baby during week 9 of pregnancy.

    End of 3rd Month!
    The third month is now over. The baby weighs 1.5 ounces, and is 3.5 inches long. The essential organs are begining to form. The brain is fully formed. The baby's heartbeat can be heard. The baby can suck its thumb and open and close his/her mouth. The ears are deveolped but the baby cannot hear yet. In the girls, the ovaries are slowly drifting down towards the pelvis. In boys, the prostate gland is developing. The fetus can produce urine now.
  • MOVEMENT OF BABY

    The baby can now move around in the belly and can kick!! The brain is now fully developed. This all happens week 10 of pregnancy.

    The baby's intestines are now in place in the baby's body during week 13 of pregnancy.

    The baby can suck its thumb and open and close its mouth week 11 of pregnancy

    The second trimester is the 4,5, and 6th month of pregnancy.
  • SURVIVAL

    SURVIVAL
    The baby can now survive out of the womb with the help of doctors and nurses. The baby would remain in the NICU until it could do everything on its own.

    The fourth month is now over. The baby weighs 3 ounces, and is 4-5 inches long. Skeletal and organ development are taken care of now. The baby can now sense light. The intestines are now in place. Arms are now proportioned to the body.

    The fifth month is now over. The baby weighs 10 and 1/2 ounces, and is 6 and 1/2 inches long. Ears are now facing forward. The verniz and lanugo are formed and developed now. Kidneys are fully functioning. Testes in a male are now decsending from the pelvis.

    End of the 6th Month.
    The end of month six is now over. The baby weighs 1 3/4 to 2 pounds, and is 11-14 inches long. Baby can hiccup. Sound can be heard. Taste buds are produced.

    The third trimester is the 7,8, and 9th month of pregnancy.
  • SENSES!!

    The senses are almost all fully developed they still continue to mature, but for most part are developed. This happens week 27 of pregnancy.

    The seventh month is over. The baby now weighs 2 1/2 - 3 1/2, and is 14 - 16 inches long. The baby has many reflex movements now including grasping, swimming, and being startled. The cerebral hemisphere covers almost the entire brain now. If the baby is born now it will need to be put in the NICU.

    The 8th month is over. The baby weighs 5 1/2 ounces, and is 18 inches long. During the 8th month the baby gains between 2 to 3 pounds. The head will usually know settle into the downward position. Babies born this month have a 90 percent chance of survival.

    There are 3 stages of birth when the mother is in labor. The 1st stage of labor is when the mother is dialating and having contractions. The 2nd stage is the actual delivery of the baby. The 3rd stage is the delivery of the placenta!!

    Marks the last day of the pregnancy, and most women usually have their babies by now. Not all women, but most! The baby is now full size and weighs 6 - 8 pounds, and is 20 inches long on average. Everything is fully developed by now and is ready to be born.
