Born
Ernest Nagel was born November 16, 1901, in Nove Mesto, Bohemia. Bohemia is part of Czechoslovakia now. At the age of 10, he immigrated with his mother to the united states. He studied at Columbia University where he earned his doctorate in 1930. After that, he became a teacher at the same university as a philosophy teacher. -

Reduction
"Reductionism is an approach to understanding the nature of complex things by reducing them to the interactions of their parts, or to simpler or more fundamental things." A good example is a human body. We start studying the human body at its smallest form like cells, and we work our way up to more complex like the brain. This belief can use different concepts. Like the saying you need to learn how to crawl before you can run."By doing this, we show a progressive and systematic way of learning. -
Death
Ernest Nagel died in new york from pneumonia. He died at the age of 83.
He had other books like: The Logic of Measurement, Principles of the Theory of Probability,Sovereign Reason,Logic Without Metaphysics. He was survived by his wife and two sons. -
