Tanner cried again today because he was hungry. His mom came over to feed him and change his diaper. Tanner knows that he can trust her because she answers his cries.
This is the first stage of Ericksons timeline. This happens within the first 18months of life Trust vs. mistrust.
The crisis is trusting versus mistrust. Trusting in someone who answers your cries forms a bond and makes you feel safe. Someone who doesn't answer your cries creates fear. -
Tanner 16 year old.
Tanner had made the decision to find out for himself what career he wanted to choose for the rest of his life. He also has found his style he likes to wear and has embraced himself.
This is Ericksons 5th stage of Identity vs. role confusion.
The crisis is choosing his own identity and independent, with what he wears and chooses. Or he could be confused and not know what to do with himself. -
Tanner
In his last few breathes of life he saw his life like a movie. From his first kiss to his last school dance, to his first child being born, and burying his parents. Even though he was alone he knew he had no regrets on his life.
In Ericksons 8th stage integrity versus despair.
The crisis is between being proud of his life despite the imperfections and trials it had. Then having regret and wishing that he could have re-do.
