    Ferrari was born on 18 February 1898 in Modena, Italy. He was the youngest of two children to Alfredo and Adalgisa Ferrari. Enzo grew up with little formal education. Alfredo Senior was the son of grocer from Carpi and started a workshop fabricating metal parts at the family home.

His father Alfredo, as well as his older brother, Alfredo Jr., died in 1916 as a result of a widespread Italian flu outbreak.     In 1923 he received the Prancing Horse badge which decorated the fuselage of his former army buddy (and Italy's WWI leading ace) Francesco Baracca's SPAD S.XIII fighter from his mother. The badge had been taken from the wreckage of the plane after Baracca's mysterious death in 1918. Ferrari would later display the badge on his cars when he founded his own racing team in 1932.

    in !937 Alpha Romeo wanted to regain full control of there racing team making Enzo Ferrari a sporting director, ferrai was unhappy with the agreement and left Alpha Romeo and founded his own company the Auto-Avio Costruzioni, a company supplying parts to other racing teams. aqlthough he coulden't race or design any cars for 4 years.

    With the outbreak of World War II in 1943, Ferrari's factory was forced to undertake war production for Mussolini's fascist government. Following Allied bombing of the factory, Ferrari relocated from Modena to Maranello. At the end of the conflict, Ferrari decided to start making cars bearing his name, and founded Ferrari S.p.A. in 1947.

    During the 1957 Mille Migia An accedent occured on the track when a Ferrari 335s driven by Alfonso de Portago was traveling at 250 km/h when it blew a tire and crashed into the roadside crowd, killing de Portago, his co-driver and nine spectators, five of whom were children. In response, Enzo Ferrari and Englebert, the tyre manufacturer, were charged with manslaughter in a lengthy criminal prosecution that was finally dismissed in 1961.

    In 1963 ferrari offered to sell his company to ford for 18 milion dollars but when realizing he would not remain in control of the racing team he withdrew his offer. But in 1969 he sold 50% of his company to FIAT with the exption that he remained in total control of his racing team and that FIAT would generously fund the team. (FIAT's holding rose to 90% in 1988)

    Enzo Ferrari died on the 14th of Augest 1988 at 90 years old. He witnessed the launch of the Ferrari F40, one of the greatest road cars at that time, shortly before his death, which was dedicated as a symbol of his achievements. In 2002 the first car to be named after him was launched as the Enzo Ferrari. The Italian Grand Prix was held just weeks after Ferrari's death, and the result was a 1–2 finish for Ferrari.

    In 2002 the japaneese designer Ken Okuyama anounced the Newest ferrari at the Paris motor show it was the Enzo ferrari. Originaly they anounced they were going to build 349 of the formula 1 type cars and all 349 were sold before they were even made. After numerous requests to build more Ferrari decided to make 50 more bringing the total of 399, Irt was first sold for a little over $600,000 but typicaly sells in auction for 1 million dollars.
