    The Medieval Period

    The Old English (Anglo-Saxon) Period (423-1066 CE)
    The so-called "Dark Ages", occur when Rome falls and barbarian tribes move into Europe.

    In 1066, Norman French armies invade and conquer England under William I. This marks the end of the Anglo-Saxon hierarchy and the emergence of the Twelfth Century Renaissance (c. 1100-1200 CE).

    Describes the dialects of English in the history of the English language between the High and Late Middle Ages, Middle English developed from Late Old English in Norman England and was spoken throughout the Plantagenet era.
