It was a day long awaited by my parents. My parents were Spanish speakers only by that time.

I was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. During my first years of childhood I had not any contact With The Inglés language. Everybody around me spoke the native language born from my place, the Spanish language

My ears heard the first words in the English language from my first grade teacher. I still remember her asking us to repeat the word "umbrella". I though, this is amazing, I'm speaking Inglés.

During this time I learned new vocabulary. I acquired some skills in pronunciation at basic words. I did not have the ability to maintain a conversation in English.

I had learned some words and many songs in English. I would not be afraid to learn a second language by that time.

At the end of my Secondary a knew to writea few sentences with a basic vocabulary. I could read basic lectures. Also I could understand what I was reading with some difficulty.

I felt frustrated and afraid because for first time I realized that did not how speak English . My developed for those year was almost NOTHING.

I arrived to New York on my first time and I really believe that with just stepping on the Big Apple City I could been able to speak English such as magic. Wrong, wrong, wrong......

During those years I learned more English but not sufficient to find a good pay job.

I started to work at an Industrial Laundry. I learned new vocabulary terms used in relation to my work area.

I studied part of a degree in psycology. I acquired some academic vocabulary. I left the schoolbecause my Productive English language was insufficient.

When I returned to Puerto Rico had acquired a lot of experiences English language skills.

I had not to much contact with the English language. Sometimes I seem movies in English but that was all.

At last I could completed my degree in Elementary Education.
I took some English courses. My proficiency in the language skills were improved. -
At present I am developing my Recetive and Productive skills in English as never before. I am very happy and have the hope to completed my Certification in Bilingualism in July.
