    In January 1492 Cristopher Columbus Convince Spain to finance his journey to Atlantic Ocean to find India, but when he reached the land he realized he accidently found "The New World." After that many nations came here to establish colonies and to find some valuable resources.This colonization caused tragedy for Native Americans as coloniest kieed them, ensalved them or forced off their land and many had been died of disease.

    In 1607 Jamestown, Virginia established the first permanent english settlement. In 1620 pillgrims ariving on the Mayflower established a second english colony in Massachusetts. Slavery began about 1675, where colonist forcibly took a large number of Africans from Africa and imprted them to the southern colonies to work on the plantation system.

    A group of roughly 100 members of a joint venture called the Virginia Company founded the first permanent English settlement in North America on the banks of the James River. Famine, disease and conflict with local Native American tribes in the first two years brought Jamestown to the brink of failure before the arrival of a new group of settlers and supplies in 1610. Tobacco became Virginia’s first profitable export, and a period of peace followed the marriage of John Rolfe and Pocahontas.

    By the 1800s, there was major crop in the south; cotton.Planting and harvesting cotton reqired a lot of labor (sleves).All sleves to do the hard work picking the cotton. Slavery had been legel throughout the north during the colonial period.

    The northern developed a varied economy that included industry and commerce as well as agriculture. The northern economy was base on paid labor, however the immigrants, women and slaves provided labor for the growing economy.
