Many people see Horace Mann as the inventor of school, but he really just created the school system we have nowadays. Schools were around way before him so he never actually invented school. -
"Spereate but Equal" - This is when they decided that blacks and whites would have equal but serrate rights. This was seen in schools all over. Separate bathrooms, water fountains, and even classroom for the two different races and signs were used to show who could use what.

Title IX was created so that no person can be denied access to school based on their sex. Women were able to become more involved which was not heard of before. -

The first school shooting was the Columbine school shooting. This took place on April 20, 1999 in Littleton, Colorado. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire after their bomb they created malfunctioned and didn't explode. They killed 12 students and 1 teacher, in addition 24 people were injured. After knowing they were not going to escape they committed suicide. -
This act helped students who had lower income or struggled, to achieve the same things as the more fortunate students. -
It has began to stick out that children are struggling in school, and some believe it's because of the early start time. Students are not getting the 8-10 hrs of sleep and we see that in test scores and even in the students personalities throughout the day.
