    Plessy v.Ferguson
    Involved HOmer Plessy a half breed of half black half white who was on a train and refued to go to the black section of the train, and was changed with cival disobedence at the time his fine was 25 dolalrs, which started a case of plessy v. ferguson he lost the case 7 to 1 vote, make it official that sepreate but equal was still in place.
  • Brown v. the Board of Education

    Brown v. the Board of Education
    Oliver L brown and 12 other parents of 20 children place a case against the board of education, stating that seprate but equal was just a way to go around raism, it started with mr. brown daughter having to walk 6 blocks to geta bus for a bus drive 1.6 miles away when she could have attended a white school 7 blocks away. Brown won the case with 9-0 votes in his favor.

    Title IV is part of the Higher Education Act of 1965 which states that students getting funds for higher education students should be granted there excess funds after thier school fees have been paid
  • Education of all Handicapped Children Act

    Education of all Handicapped Children Act
    Education of all Handicapped Children Act tickeles down with acceptance from the courts and signed by Gerald Ford, The act states that public schools will take federal funds and educate and provide one free meal to handicapped and special need children. An education that is as close as possible to regualr education.

    in this case the suit was submitted by the lower and middle class students of ann arbor michgan arguing that they should be taugt proper english and the same concepts as everyone else. The verdict was in the side of the students and were given the right to learn standard english.
  • Pyler v. Doe

    Pyler v. Doe
    in the case pyler v doe, its was James Plyler, Superintendent at Tyler Independent School District vs the people john doe. the argument was that parents of illegal parents should pay 1000 dollars every school year to make up for the state taxes recived. Pyler lost with a 5-4 vote from legislation but this is only applicable for ages k-12
  • Pierce, Governor of Oregon, et al. v. Society of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary

    in this case the sister of the holy name went agaist governor of oregon mr pierce, arguing that children were kids of the state and that the parents had the right to choose if their kids were to attend public schools or private school without the goverments concerns. The sisters won the case after 10 weeks of dilberations
  • The BIlingual Education Act

    In 1988 The BIlingual Education Act resurface from the orginals and was amended to state that 3 years of bilingual educatin was enought for most student with limited english understanding.
  • Individuals with Disability Act

    Individuals with Disability Act was an act passed in 1990 that gave the phrase Individuals with Disability as a better way to refer to those with special needs, rather than calling them special person.
  • Franklin V Gwinnett County Public Schools

    In Franklin V Gwinnet County Public Schools case in 1992 was a Female sophmore students ms. franklin sued her countys public school stating that they knew she was being harrased by her sports coach teacher, it was rulled that any school supported by federal funds can be sued for sexual discrimnation or harrasment
