WWI had multiple causes including militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism. It officially began on June 28, 1914 when Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were assassinated. WWI ended on November 11, 1918. -

The Great Depression began in 1929 and lasted until 1933. It began due to the Stock Market Crash and gradually became worse due to multiple events, such as the Dust Bowl. -
WWII began Sept. 1, 1939 and ended Sept. 2, 1945. World War II began when Hitler invaded Poland. WWII caused over 60 million fatalities and led to the rise of the USSR and USA. Unlike WWI, the end of WWII focused on rebuilding to avoid a third world war. -
Japans attack on Pearl Harbor led to the United States breaking their neutrality in World War II as their biggest Navy fleet had just been attacked. -
The Cold War lasted from 1947 to 1991. It was a long period of geopolitical tension between the USA and USSR. It ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union. -
The Korean War took place from 1950-1953. The US tried to stop Kim Il-Sung, the communist leader of Korea. The US did not succeed and this led to the permanent division of North and South Korea. -
African American's aim to end racism and segregation. Some important events during this time period (1950-1970) include: the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Little Rock 9, March on Washington, and others. -
The Vietnam War lasted from 1955- 1975. America tried to contain the spread of communism in Vietnam caused by Ho Chi Minh. The US ended up retreating from the war and the North Vietnamese was able to overcome the South Vietnamese army and ended as one communist country. -
John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Tx on November 22, 1963. -
