    Planetary Accretion

    Planetary Accretion
    4.6 billion years ago:
There was a cloud of dust which was affected by gravity, and most of the mass joined together in the center to create the sun. The rest of the materials formed the planets around the sun.

    Formation of the Moon

    Formation of the Moon
4.5 billion years ago: Earth collided with a planet the size of Mars and the debris from the impact formed the moon
  • Period: 45 BCE to 40 BCE

    Planetary Cooling

    4.5-4 billion years ago:
The moon moved away from Earth due to energy loss and this made the waves weaker, so the molten rock was disturbed less and the mantle began to take shape.

    End of Heavy Bombardment

    End of Heavy Bombardment
3.8 billion years ago: Lots of comets and asteroids crashed into the planets and is believed to have caused the craters found on the moon and other planets
  • Period: 15 BCE to 10 BCE

    Core Formation

1.5-1 billion years ago: Earth's core took shape because of the molten iron outer core that was around it
