Australopithecus Afarensis - Southern Ape

Homo habilis - Handy Man
Homo Habilis or the Handy Man lived about 2 million years ago. The Homo Habilis lived in Africa. These hominids were the height of an average fifth grader. They used bones as digging sticks and rocks as cutting tools. This allowed them to live a longer life. They had large ridges above their eyes and had a jaw that sticks out. -
Homo Erectus - Upright man
Homo Erectus or the Upright man were the first hominid to stand up straight. They lived 1.8 – 200,000 B.C.E. They lived in Asia. They were the first group to migrate out of to Africa to Eastern Asia and Europe. They were about 5.5 feet tall. And not as harry as the Homo Habilis. Their faces were rounder and smoother than the Homo Habilis. They were much stronger They made Axe’s out of of stone to hunt. They were the first to use fire to cook meat and keep warm. -
Homo Sapien Neanderthalensis : neanderthals
Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis or the Neanderthals lived in Africa, East Asia and Europe 230,000 to 30,000 years ago. The stood about 5-6 feet tall. They used scrapers for peeling off skin, knives for cutting meat, and spears for hunting. They had thick bones and a ridge over their eyes, but also very human like. They are believed to be the first hominid to hunt and travel in groups. -
Homo Sapiens Sapiens : Early Modern Humans
Homo Sapiens Sapiens: Early Modern Human lived 35,0 00 to 12,000 B.C.E. They originated in Africa but traveled to Europe, Asia and Australia. It is believed they traveled across land bridges to North and outh America. They are approximately 5.5-6 feet tall and very man like. They made hooks and spears to catch fish. They invented he spear thrower which enabled them to hunt more efficiently. The had a round skull and large brains.
