They had a smooth head and much bigger brains so that way they could make tools and they were much bigger than Lucy so they had a better chance of survival. They also were the first to migrate to Europe and Africa.

The hand ax was used for cutting, skinning, and chopping. Homo Erectus lived from 1.8 millon to 200,000 B.C. and lived in Asia and Europe. They also lived in caves because caves help keep heat in and provide sheltering from rain and cold.
