  • "Education Of Man"

    Written by Friedrich Froebel. It was the first known system of Kindergarten. Originated in Germany

  • Kindergarten

    Froebel opens the first known kindergarten in Blankenburgh,
    Germany.

  • First American Kindergarten

    Margarethe Schurz opened the first known American Kindergarten in her home in Watertown, Wisconsin. It was a German speaking School. In 1860 the first english speaking Kindergarten was founded in Boston.

  • Butler School

    At the Hampton Institute The Butler School was opened as a free school for "Black Children" including Kindergarten curriculum.

  • Teacher Training

    The first teacher training program for Kindergarten was established at the Oshkosh Normal School in Pennsylvania.

  • Kindergarten Union

    The international Kindergarten union was founded. In 1930 it becomes the Association for Childhood Education, focusing on elementary education.

    First White House Conference on Children is held by Teddy Roosevelt. It lead to the Establishment to the Children's Bureau in 1912.
